Sticker shops, which offer a wide range of stickers for various purposes, have become a popular category Etsy.
But how much do Etsy sticker shop owners actually make? In this post, I’ll give you a behind-the-scenes look at the earnings potential of Etsy sticker shops and share insights from my own personal sticker shop.
How much do Etsy sticker shops make?
It is difficult to determine an exact average income for Etsy sticker shops as it can vary widely depending on a number of factors such as the quality and uniqueness of the stickers being sold, the marketing efforts of the shop owner, and the overall demand for stickers on the platform.
Some Etsy sticker shop owners may only make a few hundred dollars per month, while others may make several thousand or more.
Personally, I have done just over $20,000 in sales and am up to roughly over $7,000 profit for the year 2022. This has been my first year running a sticker shop on etsy.
My Etsy sticker shop has done 2113 sales in the year 2022, I currently have around 400 listings and my sticker price is $3.99, although I do frequently run sales.
Every sticker shop on Etsy is different, which is why it’s hard to give you an exact average of what all sticker shops makes. So hopefully me showing you the stats from year one of my Etsy sticker shop, which I consider to be on the smaller end compared to other shops, gives you a good idea of what is possible.
Factors that Impact the Earnings of Etsy Sticker Shops
There is a wide variety of factors that go into running a successful Etsy shop, let’s take a quick look at what I find to be the most important.
Making your own stickers vs Outsourcing
One key consideration when it comes to creating stickers for your Etsy shop is whether to make them yourself or just order them in bulk from sites like sticker mule. While outsourcing can be a more efficient option, particularly if you have a large volume of orders or limited time to devote to production, there are several potential cost savings associated with making your own stickers.
The main advantage of making your own stickers is that you’ll have much higher margins.
For example, if I want to order 100 2″ x 2″ stickers from a site like stickermule it would cost $91. That’s a cost of $.91 per sticker.
If I were to make 100 2″ x 2″ stickers myself, the costs would be much cheaper.
I currently pay about $.77 per sheet of sticker paper, let’s say I can fit 15 2″ x 2″ sticker designs on one sheet of sticker paper.
To make 100 stickers on my own, I would use 7 sheets of sticker paper, which would cost me $5.39. A cost of only $.0569 per sticker.
So while some people are paying $.91 per sticker ($91 for 100 stickers), it only costs me $.0539 per sticker ($5.39 for 100 stickers).
This math made it an easy decision to bite the bullet and drop some money on my sticker cutting machine, the silhouette cameo 4.
Method | Cost per Sticker | Total Cost |
---|---|---|
Ordering 100 Stickers from Stickermule | $0.91 | $91 |
Making 100 stickers myself | $0.0539 | $5.39 |

In my personal opinion, a much better option than a cricut when it comes to making stickers.
- Very user friendly software
- Bluetooth connectivity
